General Description

At the site of the 16th century Kongo mosque, situated 40kms south of Kenya’s old Arab seaport of Mombasa, lies the Indian Ocean Beach Club overlooking the powder white sands of Diani Beach and the Tiwi river estuary. Set amongst more than 25 acres of secluded acres of swaying Coconut Palm groves and magnificent old stoic Baobabs, this exclusive resort hideaway recreates the by gone opulence of the rich Sultans of Zanzibar, who once ruled Kenya’s Swahili coastline. The Indian Ocean Beach Club opened its doors in 1992. Surrounding the grand Moorish style arches of the main buildings are scattered smaller, white washed, ‘makuti’ roofed structures of 100 air Deluxe Clubrooms. The rooms all face the half-kilometer beach bordering the warm turquoise-blue waters of the Indian Ocean.
