General Description

Located on the soft, secluded sands of Kipungani Bay, on the southern tip of Lamu Island, Kipungani is making waves as one of the brightest new ‘finds’ in this undiscovered paradise. This exclusive lodge is run by Heritage Hotels as one of its two flagship Explorer properties, offering a taste of rustic luxury in the farthest flung corners of Kenya (the other is in the Maasai Mara). Kipungani’s 14 cottages are set on stilts just above the tidemark, with nothing between their private balconies and the azure ocean. The public areas are awash with driftwood furniture and huge soft cushions. The food is first-class, with the obvious emphasis on freshly caught seafood; guests can also catch their own on the lodge’s own big game fishing boat. Facilities are all ‘five-star barefoot luxury’, except for jet-skis and speedboats are not permitted in the vicinity.
