General DescriptionIn the heart of a 23,000 acre rhino sanctuary, on the 110,000 acre private Ol Pejeta Ranch, Sweetwater’s offers an ideal location for those interested in seeing plains game at close quarters and for those who enjoy ‘gentle’ activities. The 39 Luxuriously appointed tents all face a waterhole in the shadows of Mount Kenya. A cleverly hidden electric fence prevents animals entering the grounds but allows for a wonderful experience of being close to game without any danger. The main building was originally the Ranch Manager’s house and has a cozy atmosphere. Both night and day game drives allow guests to explore the sanctuary, whilst interpretive bush walks offer the chance to learn the signs of the bush. Guests at Sweetwater’s can also enjoy a visit to the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary where orphaned chimps are reared for reintroduction to the wild. |
